A Good Man

I realized after multiple blog posts that I haven't talked about the most important person in my life.  Sean is an amazing husband in so many ways.  We started dating November 5, 2001 which means we have been together almost 10 years!  Sean and I met our senior year of high school while working at Colton's Steakhouse.  I asked him on our first date (although he will dispute this) and the rest is history.  I will definitely say our journey together has not been easy, but it has definitely been worth it.  From senior prom to graduating from college to buying a house together, we have essentally grown up by each other's side.  I know Sean will be a great dad because he has been irreplaceable to me.  I would say the most challenging time in our relationship thus far was when I became sick in Summer 2007.  We had just gotten married in May and by August my body was so stiff that I couldn't get out of bed.  We didn't know what was wrong and I seriously contemplated dropping out of law school.  Throughout this time Sean did everything for me:  he dressed me, combed my hair, and helped me do simple things like walk down the stairs.  It wasn't until October that I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.  Not only did my husband care for me physically, but he kept me from becoming depressed.  We had a circle of family and friends praying for me, and I know now that God had us get married when we did for a reason.  This trial brought us closer together, and it made the remainder of our first year of marriage a piece of cake.  Now we are taking the next step in life, and I know our baby will have a kind, strong, and loving father.  I am also so proud of Sean today because he just made big progress in his career, congratulations baby!

Pregnancy Highlights So Far

 

 

Pregnancy Highlights:  I thought I should keep a record of how my pregnancy is going so far and so I can compare with other moms-to-be

How Far Along: 10 weeks

 

Size of baby: 1.54 centimeters (probably bigger now, that was at 8 weeks)

 

Maternity Clothes: I am wearing the loosest pants I own because most of my pants don't button and occassionally the bella band.

 

Gender: We don't know yet, what do you think?

 

Movement: I can't wait for the day I can feel Cashew inside my belly!

 

Sleep: Sleep is still ok! I wake up a few times at night to pee but can go right back to sleep. Love sleeping on my back for now, but I know that will change once I hit the 4 month mark.  It will be terrible having to sleep on my side.

 

Symptoms: I feel pretty good, no morning sickness.  Just occasional heartburn and bloating, but nothing too bad.

 

What I miss: My energy!

 

Cravings: Fruit, sweet things, but nothing fried or greasy.

 

Best Moment this week: Getting to finally tell my two best friends that I was prego!

 

What I am looking forward to: Going to our new OB on July 8th for our end of the first trimester visit.  I've heard great things about her and I'm excited to see how it goes.  Also I am ready to get the nursery stuff picked out!

 

These are my two best friends from high school, Leah and Sarah.  I told them by snapping a photo and telling them to say, "Lydia's Pregnant!"  As you can see by the look on Sarah's face she was surprised.  Leah said she already guessed I was preggers and even predicted it her mom that just a few hours before!

Baby Gender Predictions

A friend of mine blogged these Old Wives Tales a few weeks ago before her ultrasound so I stole the idea and wanted to share my results!

Craving fruit or meat?: This is hard because I haven't had alot of cravings, but I definitely would rather eat fruit over meat nowadays.  I would have to go with fruit which is an indicator of GIRL!

Pendullum test: Can't wait to try this once I get a baby bump!

 

Morning sickness: They say that little girls make their mama's sick and I have not thrown up once and have had only some mild nausea BOY!

Soft or dry skin? Mine has been extremely dry which indicates BOY!

Are you craving citrus? Yes, I love oranges, pineapples, etc. GIRL!
Have you felt glowing or less than beautiful and had lots of breakouts? I have had breakouts on my forehead and I normally have clear skin But little girls are supposed to cause breakouts so... GIRL!

Dreams- Some people say whatever you dream about is what you are having. Others have said that you have opposite of what you have been dreaming about. I had a dream that it was a GIRL!

Heartbeat indicator: I'm not sure about this once since we have only been to the OB once so far, I'll let you know after we go for our second appointment.

 

*My friends and family say they see me having a daughter, but Sean thinks the baby is a boy, we'll have to wait and see :-)

My guess is GIRL!

My First Baby Bump

For a few months now I've been trying to figure out what to write about on this blog.  Well, the Lord answered that question for me when he blessed Sean and me with a baby!  I'm about 10 weeks along and so far so good.  We are so happy and can't wait to see what the future holds.
